With deep family roots spanning more than eight decades in the Central Valley, I was born, raised, educated and started my own family here. While attending California State University, Stanislaus, I met my future wife, Jamie. We both completed our bachelors and masters degrees at CSUS and went off to get married and have two sons, Gavin and Griffin, who currently attend school in Ripon. When I am not busy on the sidelines of my sons' sporting events, I support two local organizations, Goodwill Industries of San Joaquin Valley and Central Valley Training Center, by serving on their boards.
I founded my fractional CFO firm in January of 2023. My mission is to provide small and mid-sized companies access to financial and executive management that is only economical for larger companies. Since the founding, I have assisted companies in evaluating management performance, clarifying cost structures, developing financial reporting capabilities, defining key performance indicators (KPIs), building budgets, improving processes, developing employee incentive packages, analyzing product offerings, evaluating acquisitions and dispositions, hiring, and developing employee benefit packages.
Prior to founding my company, I served as the CFO and Vice President of Finance at the Spanos Corporation for 13 years. In this role, I managed all aspects of finance, accounting, HR, IT, and risk management for this national, family-owned apartment developer and builder. I closely monitored staff performance and crafted long-term strategies that aligned with the changing needs of the business. I led cash flow, financial planning, analysis, tax strategies, forecasting, capital project financing, process improvement, employee benefits, and critical IT improvements.
Before my work at the Spanos Corporation, I was the CFO of Pacific State Bank for 3 years. In this role, I directed a project involving the overhaul and relaunch of the accounting and finance units. I defined new strategic plans and budgets based on new client needs and changing organizational goals. I led daily operations related to asset/liability management, liquidity, interest rate risk, and treasury activities. I also oversaw SEC financial reporting, SOX 404 documentation, tax and customer profitability analyses.
